How much can you make in Barcelona?
Working in Spain has pros and cons. One of the negative aspects is a lower salary rate than the average of Europe. Some examples of what you can expect to earn in different job positions, gross per year, below:

Income tax rates

For average salaries, the income tax rate is around 12 – 15 %. E.g. if you receive € 20.000 gross a year your monthly net will be approximately € 1350.

As a foreigner, the first 6 months in a year you will be deducted 24% in tax, but this evens out the next 6 months (e.g. you pay 24% during 6 months and the next 6 months you pay 2% in taxes).

Spain uses progressive tax scale which means the higher your salary is the more is deducted. Here is a very helpful website where you can calculate your salary after taxes: www.calculatusueldo.com.

“Paga extra”

Note that, in Spain, some companies might pay you slightly less every month but will give you an extra wage in the summer and for Christmas.
