Recruitment agencies The more options you have the better: it’s always a good idea to hand over your CV to recruiters. In Barcelona you can find all the big agencies represented in addition to local players. If you are looking to find a job in another language than Spanish or if you are more into multinational companies, check Talent Search People’s job offers. Job portals If you have not yet arrived here and have decided to start your job-hunt from distance, you have several good online job portals to choose from: Infojobs.net - Currently one of the most popular sites among Spanish employers - Create your profile and apply online. You can also upload your original CV - Job opportunities are easy to search by category - In Spanish Monster.es - Register, upload your CV and apply directly online or through companies own sites - Good, quality job offers, many of them targeting international candidates - Option to use in English Loquo.es - Local job opportunities, most of them entry level positions - Registration not required - Free for advertisers – pay attention, some of the offers might be suspicious - Great variety of jobs and easy to search by category - Option to use in English If you are already relocated, local newspapers and magazines are a great addition to web portals. If you don’t speak any Spanish, free English language magazines “Barcelona Connect” and “Metropolitan Magazine” are good starting points; also Spanish newspaper “La Vanguardia” Sunday edition has offers for non-Spanish speakers. Word of mouth Do not underestimate the power of networking! Spain being a high-context culture (what does this mean?!) this is something you should seriously consider as a tactical weapon in your job hunt. Knowing the right people means a lot here. Spread the word about your job seeking all over and see if something comes up. |
